Nelson’s Bio - FOUNDER AND CEO

Nelson is a senior project manager with over 20 years of experience and a background in freshwater science, a Master’s degree in governance and economics, and a doctorate in Social Sciences (social network analysis). Previously, Nelson was the Executive Director of the Okanagan Partnership – a business-led non-profit focused on collaboration and identifying practical solutions to support a globally competitive Okanagan. Nelson is the OBWB’s director of water stewardship and has taught water law at Okanagan College. Nelson is a certified professional, small vessel (less than five gross tons) captain and licensed BC Fishing Guide.

Kim’s Bio - MARINE SAFETY EXPERT

Kimberley brings substantial experience from Transport Canada Marine (2008 – 2011). Since 2011, she has provided strategic policy advice on marine legislation. She also provides marine surveys for boat owners, commercial operators, marine retailers, insurance companies and financial institutions. She is an expert in safety management systems and policy and procedure recommendations, stability assessments and small vessel compliance program consultations.

Brian’s Bio -

PRODUCT MANAGER

Brian is a marketing, strategic planning and product development professional with nearly 20 years of training and experience. For the past decade, Brian worked as a marketing consultant; prior to that, he was employed in the not-for-profit sector. These experiences have allowed Brian to successfully contribute to the growth of dozens of organizations with progressive and creative marketing strategies. He has held board positions with numerous businesses and non-profit organizations. Currently, Brian leads product development for an early-stage education technology firm.

Jon’s Bio -

SOFTWARE DESIGN LEAD

Jon Corbett is an Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia. His research has had significant impact beyond academia. This is best understood through the creation of Geolive. Geolive is a web and mobile-based participatory mapping tool developed under his supervision by a team of programmers at UBC Okanagan. The application allows users to create and share spatial information using a web-based map interface. To date, Geolive is being applied to 25 projects from Palawan in the Philippines to local forest fire issues in the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. The tool has received substantial media interest and has been featured, among other venues, in the Globe & Mail as well as on Global TV and CBC Radio.

Tyler Galts - Director of Projects

Tyler is a Senior Executive and Project Manager with more than 25 years of success across multiple disciplines, industries and countries (Canada, Ireland and the USA). An innovative and creative team player, he has implemented best practices for many businesses, streamlined operations, maximized opportunities, opened new products and markets and positioned businesses for growth and expansion.

In his spare time, Tyler is raising his fifth guide dog puppy as a volunteer with BC and Alberta Guide Dogs. He volunteers as a vision mate through the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB).
